After the team was cleared, the destroyer USSà Phelpsà fired five torpedoes into the consuming transporter to forestall its catch. Obstructed in their development and with Craces power set up, the general Japanese authority, Vice Admiral Shigeyoshi Inoue, requested the intrusion power to come back to port. How to Improve Your Writing 3 Tips
How to Improve Your Writing 3 Tips Long before I made a living as a writer, I was passionate about writing. Now that Iâm a full-time author, people frequently ask me how to improve their writing. My advice is simple: 1. Sit in the Chair These four words changed my life. For a long time, I was an aspiring writerâ"which meant I didnt write much. Sure, I aspired daily, but I didnt make writing a priority. Instead, I spent time passively parked in front of glowing screens: watching TV, perusing Facebook, checking email. I didnt become a writer until I developed a writing habit. People dont learn how to write via osmosis; it takes work. So forget word count or page count, and dont worry about creating the perfect writing spaceâ"focus instead on sitting in the chair distraction-free, writing for at least an hour a day. Do this for a month and you will improve more than you thought possible. 2. Start a Blog Perhaps the best thing I ever did for my writing career was find an outlet through which I could express myself: blogging. My sole regret is I didnt start sooner. Its such an inexpensive and effective way to communicate with, and add value to, other people. Plus, the consistency of blogging strengthens your writing habit. I wrote about my entire step-by-step process here: How to Start a Successful Blog Today. And its easier than you think. 3. Kill Fear with Accountability For years I wanted to be a writer, but I was terrified to write. What if people judge me? What if my writing is bad? What if, what if, what if? Paralyzed by fear, I remained inactive and unproductive, always postponing until tomorrow. To overcome this fear, find an accountability partner: a spouse, sibling, coworker, or loved oneâ"anyone whoâs willing to help for 60 seconds a day. Then, report to your partner each day via email, and include: a) how long you sat in the chair, b) what topic you wrote about, and c) why it was a good or bad day for your writing. It takes less than a minute to send this email, and the benefits are disproportionately positive. Try it for a month: youâll watch your fear disintegrate. The Path to Aboliton - 1312 Words
Abolitionists from the 1820-1860 found it necessary to use certain strategies to appeal to the social and political minds of Americans striving to influence the participation of the abolition movement. One of the many strategies used by American abolitionists was the use of slave narratives. This moral persuasion was a very useful tactic. The creation of these narratives helped white northerners identify with the mindset of an African American slave in the south. The narratives illustrated the experiences slaves overcame to find freedom. Another major strategy that was useful to the slavery movement was the involvement of women abolitionists. As abolitionists, they started reaching out to the public by creating petitions, letters, poems, and articles to rectify the common issue of slavery. The use of slave narratives and publications allowed abolitionists to spread the abolition cause. With these tactics in use, the abolition movement became the foundation of the search for freedom o f those who were enslaved. The ability to read and write, for slaves, was a form of freedom they could achieve themselves. Add in a slave talking about his desire to learn. This intellectual freedom allowed them to maintain relationships that were torn apart by the traditions of slavery. The exercise of reading and writing was dangerous for slaves and their teachers and it was illegal. The punishment for such a crime would be unusually cruel and severe for anyone who was caught in the act or

The American Dream in Death of a Salesman Essay - 1566 Words
The American Dream is based on the Declaration of IndependenceÃâà ´: We believe that all men are born with these inalienable rights - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.Ãâà ´ (Thomas Jefferson, 1776). This dreamÃâà ´ consists of a genuine and determined belief that in America, all things are possible to all men, regardless of birth or wealth; you work hard enough you will achieve anything. However, Miller says people have been ultimately misguidedÃâà ´. The origins of the American Dream seem to have been rooted in the pioneering mentality of the 18th and 19th century immigrants, most of whom came to America because of a promise of a new and better life. Miller said, That homely, ridiculous little man had after all never ceased to struggle for a certain victory, the only kind open to him in this society - selling to achieve his lost self as a man with his name and his sonsÃâà ´ name on a business of his own.Ãâà ´ This explains exactly what he had in mind for Willy to be - as he was, trying to achieve his lost selfÃâà ´. The things that are meant to happen in business are success, wealth and esteem. This is what Ben has achieved and done. Miller stressed his success and material reward in Ben. He does this by Ben repeating himself a lot, I walked into the jungle, and when I came out I was rich.Ãâà ´ But Ben also has emptiness in spite of his success. In the eyes of the audience, he has no real happiness.
